Notice of Closure - Waltham Forest Carers Association Ltd.

Dear Carers, Collegaues and friends

I am writing, in my capacity as Chair of Waltham Forest Carers Association Ltd, to advise that the organisation will be closing. The final working day will be Dec 21st 2017and the Charitable Company will be wound up in mid-January 2018.

As you may be aware London Borough Waltham Forest re-tendered the Carers Support and Independence Contract during 2016, and despite a strong bid and an enviable 30+ year reputation of providing high quality services to local carers, the contract was awarded to a new provider.

In spite of this setback, Trustees and the three remaining members of staff have continued to provide a carers support group and explored new services and fundraising opportunities during the last 12 months. We have been heartened by the success we have achieved. However Trustees now feel that the opportunities for WFCA to influence campaign and be a “voice “for carers locally is becoming increasingly challenging. Recruiting new trustees with the ability and drive to support new initiatives is also proving difficult, so it is with much regret that the decision has been taken to close

Strong and prudent management of WFCA means that the charity remains financially solvent and in accordance with Charity Commission guidance, Trustees will be donating / distributing our remaining resources to other charities with similar objects, so that carers can be continued to be supported.

I am sure that you would like us to extend your thanks and support to all our staff (past and present) who have worked so hard to provide the service and to the Trustees who have given their time, voluntarily, over many years to support the work of WFCA.

It has been a pleasure to work with local carers and colleagues over the last 30 years and Trustees wish all our members and friends every best wish for the future.

Best wishes

Neil Collins
